preparing for a road trip

With a very rough plan and departure window I'm getting ready for a road trip. This will be the first long distance trip in my old Class B RV, a 1994 Roadtrek 190 Independent, which I've owned for several years.
(see 1994 Roadtrek brochure)

The oil has been changed and a suspicious wheel noise checked, and I've replaced the cab door seals to hopefully reduce wind noise. A new rechargeable fan stands ready to assist with keeping the refrigerator operational in hot weather (a problem I experienced last summer), and a new rechargeable power pack should give me some backup power for my mobile devices if necessary. I'll check the tire pressure, load up a few things, and see what happens.

My fuzzy idea generally has me heading east toward Lake Tahoe, then south along the east slope of the Sierras via Mono Lake and Death Valley to Las Vegas. Thence northeast into southern Utah, through St George and Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks. From there the northwest corner of Colorado via Grand Junction, and the southeast corner of Wyoming, via Rawlins to Cheyenne. Next north a bit and crossing east into southwest South Dakota to Hot Springs. Then across southern South Dakota through Pine Ridge and Winner to Platte, and a jog north to Miller. From there it's short distances east through Wessington, my home town, to Huron, probably the end of the outbound leg of the trip.

I don't know what may change, or how long it will take. I don't expect to get a feel for variations or timing until I've been on the road a few days and nights. Whenever practical I plan to take the parallel highways, not the interstates, stopping in small towns and avoiding major cities. The plan is to boondock* as much as possible, while taking advantage of toilets and showers outside the RV when they are available.

*boondocking = parking the RV away from developed campgrounds, or in a camping area without electric, water and sewer hookups.
